By Luís Macedo, Amílcar Cardoso (auth.), Barry Smyth, Pádraig Cunningham (eds.)

This publication constitutes the refereed court cases of the 4th ecu Workshop on Case-Based Reasoning, EWCBR-98, held in Dublin, eire, in September 1998.
The forty-one revised complete papers offered have been rigorously chosen and reviewed for inclusion within the court cases. The contributions deal with the illustration and association of instances in case-bases, the evaluation of case similarity, the effective retrieval of situations from huge case-bases, the variation of comparable case suggestions to slot the present challenge, case studying and case-base upkeep, and the appliance of CBR know-how to real-world problems.

Practical Aspects of Declarative Languages: 4th International Symposium, PADL 2002 Portland, OR, USA, January 19–20, 2002 Proceedings

Declarative languages construct on sound theoretical bases to supply appealing frameworks for program improvement. those languages were succe- totally utilized to a large choice of real-world occasions together with database m- agement, energetic networks, software program engineering, and decision-support structures.

28 D. Murphy and I. Pitt To this end, a simple user study was conducted. Two groups of school-age children were invited to use the system: one group used the system in its original form, without sound, while the other group used the system with spatial sound added. The intention was to find out how long the system could hold the attention of a child, and to see if and how this varied with the inclusion of sound. To this end, the children were given no specific goals or tasks to complete. Each was given a brief introduction to the system, and then allowed to spend as much time using the system as he/she wished.

Those methods act on the environment, like actuators (walk, lie, wait, speed up, etc). A list of trends is associated to each action. This list is a post-condition stipulating effects that can be achieved by this action. Computing the set of purposes’trends and available post-conditions, the agent selects an action to perform. Interpretation mechanism is running concurrently to the execution of actions (the agent thinks while it acts). -A. Favier, P. De Loor, and J.
